Pagoda Chinese Ensemble

An afternoon of music from China, showing you the musical development since the Warring State Period (475-221BC) to present day, how music in China has been influenced throughout history by cultures, trade and language inside and outside of China, the diversity of Chinese music and its composition structure compared to that of Western music, and how Chinese sound have been adapted to modern day contemporary music.

Established in 2009, the Confucius Institute at the University of Liverpool aims to advance and promote the study of Chinese language, culture and the arts through taught programmes, cultural activities and public engagement within the University of Liverpool and the wider Merseyside community.

Liverpool Confucius Institute organizes a huge range of culture events throughout the year from calligraphy, Chinese painting, Tai-Chi classes, Chinese film events, Chinese New Year Showcase, guest lectures, Spring Festival celebrations and our annual Dragon Boat Race.
