Drum Roll please – introducing not one but two soloists from the LMO, a new work from a member of the LMO and all conducted by two young conductors from the RNCM, Andrew Casey and Mark Edwards.  Mozart’s ominous overture to Don Giovanni will be followed by his joyous Exultate Jubilate sung by Louise Dickinson.  Next comes the première of a new work from LMO violinist Wendy Dickinson dedicated to the memory of LMO's much-missed colleague John Cook, member and Treasurer of the orchestra for over 40 years.  Principal oboist, Michael Shennan, will then perform one of Albinoni’s many oboe concertos.  Op.9 No.8 might not be his most famous one but we think it’s his best!  And to bring this aptly named concert to an end, Haydn’s penultimate symphony, No.103, known as the “Drum Roll” because of the opening roll on the timpani, is choc full of Haydn’s normal liveliness and melodic invention.
