Interactions: A Workshop in Free Improvised Music

Wednesday, 21 March 2018 Time: 2pm-4.30pm

Centrifuge is pleased to offer a workshop in free improvised music open to anyone interested in furthering their experience and understanding of improvised music.

The workshop will be a mixture of live performance (free music improvisation) followed by structured discussion. A possible starting point will be the different perceptions of individual performers and the listeners, but experience shows that people play and say unexpected things. However, it may well be that hearing others articulate their responses causes us to respond to music in a different way, either as listeners or performers.

A written account of the free improvisation can be found at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_improvisation

Examples of people playing free improvised music, talking about it can be found at: http://www.improvisersnetwork.co.uk/extensions/conversations-and-documentaries
