Overview

My Life as a Courgette is a 2016 Swiss-French stop motion comedy-drama film directed by Claude Barras. It was screened in the Director’s Fortnight section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The film tells of Zucchini who, after his mother's sudden death, is befriended by a police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home, filled with other orphans his age. At first he struggles to find his place in this at times strange and hostile environment. But with Raymond's help and his newfound friends, Zucchini eventually learns to trust and love, as he searches for a new family of his own. The film was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film at the 89th Academy Awards. It was also selected as the Swiss entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, making the December shortlist.
