This is a joint concert performed by Migrant Artists Mutual Aid (MaMa) and singers from Liverpool Hope University.
MaMa was formed in 2011 to provide support for and campaign for struggling asylum seekers in Liverpool. The organisation quickly formed into a community choir and has been performing at the International Slavery Museum (ISM), Bluecoat and various other Liverpool venues over the last decade. With support from the Heritage Lottery Fund MaMa developed six new songs inspired by the exhibitions and archives of the ISM to bring together this histories and realities of current migrants. MaMa is now furthering this work with support from Arts Council England to perform these songs and make them and the journey of their creation accessible.
