There is a range of social groups formed for staff to promote and encourage meeting new people. This is a brilliant opportunity to get to know people in a new job, or if you are from out of town, a new city. The social groups include:
You can meet colleagues on a daily basis for a free cup of Fairtrade coffee in the FML staff common room or the Eden Cafe between 10.30 am - 11.15 am.
Foundation hour takes place every Wednesday between 1 pm - 2 pm. Foundation Hour is a unique and celebratory aspect of Liverpool Hope University’s life and community. The University takes time and space to pause and reflect on important issues beyond the curriculum. The issues range from cultural, religious, spiritual, also concentrating on major World news events. It is a unique opportunity to discuss relevant issues and maybe even gain a new insight and perspective on the events encompassing all of our lives today. This offers a brilliant opportunity to meet new people, share new ideas and maybe even make new friends in the process.
Keep an eye out for our weekly Hope Bulletin which is emailed every week and has up to date and relevant information concerning the University, upcoming training events, opportunities for development and interesting open lectures.
There is also a Staff Families Association , which is a social group within Liverpool Hope University, it provides a friendly welcome and support to the families of newly appointed staff. Staff Families meets every month for a coffee morning, either at the university, or in the homes of its members. We would like to extend a warm invitation to you to meet other staff families who have also embarked on a new job, and maybe new to the city, from elsewhere in the country, or abroad.
Liverpool Hope prides itself on the work done in the community and the World. You can find out more information about the opportunities for volunteering and charity work within Hope and, if you're interested, find out how to get involved.
There is also the Chaplaincy on site which has details of sacred spaces on campus and local places of worship. The Chaplaincy Base is at the rear of the EDEN building, Hope Park, but the team are to be found around the campuses, as well as in Hope Chapel every day. Come into the chaplaincy for £1 lunch every Monday or drop by for tea and coffee whenever you want! This is an amazing opportunity to meet new people every day, also the staff situated in the Chaplaincy are extremely welcoming and if you need them they are available to talk and listen.
