Fine and Applied Arts is about real change, it is about exploring exciting visual and theoretical possibilities. It is about application, challenge and ambition for undergraduate and post graduate study. The teaching staff are research active, practicing artists and published authors, enthusiastic about their individual subject interests on a local, national and international level.
A supportive and well-appointed studio environment enables you to develop a visual and discerning language of art and design within a wide variety of specialist material areas. The Fine Art and Design curriculum is underpinned throughout by a robust theoretical and critical studies programme combined with relevant business practice that support and enhance your practical work, individual learning and future development, thus preparing you for a career in your chosen field on successful graduation. The city offers a highly creative and culturally rich environment and we have excellent links to galleries and museums including the Bluecoat Display Centre, Tate , National Museums Liverpool (NML) and FACT of which we are formal partners. Each year we host our own Cornerstone Festival with exciting and diverse programs in music, drama and dance. This is a wonderful opportunity for art and design students to collaborate with other areas of study on the campus. We also host recognised guest speakers from the world of art and design and welcome a new International Artist in Residence each year.
